December on the Brookland Arts Walk!
Welcome to December!
Having just had thanksgiving, we want to first express our gratitude for all of you who are part of the Brookland Arts Walk community & help make it thrive. As small creators and businesses we rely on your weekly visits to our studios & theFarmers Market and appreciate all of the support you give to our studios & work.
We certainly hope you’ll keep the Arts Walk in mind as you do your holiday shopping. Most of the studios are open on Saturdays & many are offering extended holiday hours thursday - sunday. Please check individual studios & their sites for specific hours & thanks for SHOPPING SMALL & SUPPORTING LOCAL!
As the year wraps up and the holidays approach we have several events we want to share. We especially hope you’ll join us for the Yalda Market on Dec 13 to celebrate the Winter Solstice. See below for details for this & all events on the Arts Walk in December.

Vintage Sewing Machine Petting Zoo

Vintage sewing machines are awesome! Come and check out collection of different of 70-90 year old sewing machines, that are still getting the job done. We will be hosting
-brief intro to sewing demos,
-talking about vintage machines as a modern sewist option, and
-how upcycled sewing project are often easier to accomplish on older machines.

Relief Printing on Textiles

Join us for a hands-on textile printing workshop where you’ll learn how to carve your own relief block and transform it into a repeating pattern on fabric. We’ll begin with an introduction to designing for textiles—how motifs behave when repeated, how to plan for rhythm and movement, and how to translate your ideas into a carve-able block. You’ll then carve your design and explore different ways to print it onto fabric using textile ink and traditional hand-printing techniques.

Bookmark Printing Workshop

Join us for a relaxed, beginner-friendly bookmark making workshop where you’ll design and print your own set of simple linocut bookmarks. Because this is a focused two-hour session, we’ll guide you toward creating clean, minimal designs that work beautifully at a small scale. Think of a favorite word, a short phrase, a symbolic motif, or an iconic image inspired by a beloved writer or book.
